Going to bootcamp at Circo Massimo may not be so bad after all especially because I have realized there are two really good places to get a treat after a workout. That’s why we workout right, so that we can indulge once in a while (or more).
One offers some lovely variety of pastries which I just adore and the other is a branch of my new favorite gelateria in Rome.
Cristalli di Zucchero
I love how chic the pastries are here and that they have bite sizes so you can taste a few with less guilt!
The decor is very inviting and when you see the displays from the entrance, it is difficult to just walk on by. The bite-size bigne are €0.70 each which I think is not excessive.
I got two different types of cheesecake and a tiramisu but what stood out were the cheesecakes. It’s probably because I haven’t had a cheesecake in a while but it’s more likely these were simply really good!
They have other branches in Rome and the address below is this is the one close to Circo Massimo.

Via di San Teodoro, 88

Il Gelato
Since bootcamp is held outdoors, it’s evident that the weather is getting warmer. Warm enough for it to be a valid excuse to have a gelato. While I like the classic flavors from Fassi, I love the black sesame gelato from Il Gelato.
I also tried some of their creative flavors such as like brie with pistacchio and ginger sorbet. The ginger sorbet was divine.
Before trying the ginger, I had to ask how strong it was because it can sometimes be over’powering. The sorbet was freshing and just somehow felt energizing. I plan to get that again the next time I am there.
They also have the wide variety of chocolate that I first saw at their location near the Spanish Steps. Below is their new price list which is slightly lower than before and I believe is applicable to all their outlets.
This location is much smaller than the one near the Spanish Steps but it seems as if they also offer all the flavors. One thing that stood out was the service, good and friendly.
Address:
Viale di Aventino, 59
With these treats around Circo Massimo, I now have more incentive to go to bootcamp and give it my all. After that, I can decide where to reward myself for the hard work!
