This bakery in Rome doesn’t sell the typical Italian goodies but caters to those who want a change or miss cupcakes, carrot cake and red velvet cake like I did this morning.
I was making my way to visit Norceria Viola in Campo dei Fiori, thanks to the post written by Elizabeth Minchilli, but got sidetracked when I passed by The Perfect Bun. The exterior is not eye-catching but my craving for carrot cake led me inside.
I have been here a few times but usually get my cupcakes and the like from another bakery in Rome called Cake and The City as it’s in the vicinity.
The Perfect Bun had a nice selection of cupcakes that almost made me change my mind about the carrot cake. However, the carrot cake craving persisted and I got a slice.
I was very happy about this choice as the carrot cake was nice and moist. I would often remove frosting because it’s just too much but I ate all the frosting this time around! The cake sure cured my sweet tooth as it was just that – sweet. A bit sweeter than I would have liked but good overall.
I think, in general, the baked goods here lean towards being too sweet for me as I also had a taste of their brownies -sweet, sweet, sweet! Again, I have been suffering from a sweet tooth and now I am good.
But that doesn’t mean, I am not tempted to try their cupcakes and red velvet cake in the near future. When that happens, you will hear my thoughts on it. I also hope to visit another bakery in Rome that does cupcakes called Sweety Rome.
Let’s see which bakery in Rome gets my vote for the best carrot cake in town!
I’ve been here….I think. It’s close to insalata ricca in center of Rome right close to campo fiori area as you walk from the bus stop to the Pilates studio. I even bought you a slice of the carrot cake. I think it was the place where two locals where buying a cake and they said oh my gosh the slice is so huge and the owner said it still cost the same so might as well take the big slice haha but it was still a small slice if u compare it to cheesecake factory slices if u know what I mean 🙂
Yes you are right but you know what – I don’t remember eating that piece of carrot cake at all. Must be old age that I am forgetting these things but still remember the dobash cake 🙂
The carrot cake is my favorite!
Good to have a food expert agree with my choice of carrot cake 🙂
Would you please write how much you paid? If they offer free tapwater, as it should be everywhere in Rome, if they have a bathroom and if it’s decent? Thank you.
I think I paid about €3 for the carrot cake and cupcakes are €2.50. As I went there to just take-away a carrot cake, I don’t know if they have a decent restroom. If I happen to be there next time and need to use the restroom, I will let you know if it is decent.
