I had fun observing how people dress a few days ago here in Rome because as much as we love Spring, it’s hard to figure out what’s the best way to dress. The first year I was here, my sister-in-law once mentioned that in Spring you see all types of clothes but I didn’t get what she meant then. The temperature difference between high and low is probably the most significant and that’s why we see all the different ‘Spring Fashion’. We see people dressed from shorts and slippers to heavy coats and boots. It’s really a time where you see the whole range of clothes.
When I first came here, my friends always advised me to dress like onion which means layering. I’ve learned to do that if I am out the entire day, which means a putting on light coat and a sweater on top of a cotton shirt. The temperature rises significantly by noon time, you basically see summer wear.
If you are here at this time of the year and at autumn, you will need to layer. It’s a hassle to carry a light jacket when the sun is out but you never know when that may change. This was the case today. The morning was cold and by noon it was as hot as a summer day and later in the afternoon at about 5pm the weather changed again and it drizzled.
Oh talking about drizzling, don’t forget to bring a small umbrella with you. It’s always a good idea.
